1.2 Information We Collect Automatically (With Your Consent)

Note:The following data is only collected when you enable "Share Analytics & Crash Reports" in Settings > Privacy. You can disable this at any time.

  • Usage Analytics (PostHog): How you interact with the app, features you use, and time spent. This helps us understand which features are most valuable to you.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version (used for both analytics and crash reporting)
  • Crash Reports (Sentry): App crashes, errors, and performance issues. This helps us fix bugs quickly and improve app stability.
  • Performance Metrics: App performance data, loading times, and error rates
  • Location Data: Only if you enable location services for gym finder features (optional, separate from analytics consent)

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 Core App Functionality

  • Provide personalized workout recommendations and tracking
  • Sync your data across devices when you're signed in
  • Save your workout progress and history
  • Enable social features like sharing achievements (if you choose to)

2.2 App Improvement (With Consent)

Note:The following uses of data require your consent (Settings > Privacy > "Share Analytics & Crash Reports"):

  • Analytics (PostHog): Analyze usage patterns to improve app features and user experience
  • Crash Reporting (Sentry): Fix bugs and prevent crashes by receiving error reports
  • Develop new features based on user needs (using anonymized analytics)
  • Ensure app security and prevent fraud

2.3 Communication

  • Send important app updates and security notifications
  • Provide customer support when you contact us
  • Send workout reminders and motivational content (if you opt in)

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We only share your information in these limited circumstances:

3.1 With Your Consent

  • When you explicitly choose to share workout data with friends or trainers
  • When you opt into sharing anonymized data for research purposes

3.2 Service Providers

  • Cloud Storage: We use secure cloud services (Supabase) to store your data
  • Analytics (PostHog): We use PostHog for analytics and user behavior tracking. Data is anonymized and only collected with your consent.
  • Crash Reporting (Sentry): We use Sentry for crash reporting and error monitoring. Error reports are only sent with your consent.
  • Unified Consent: Both analytics and crash reporting are controlled by a single consent preference in Settings > Privacy. You can enable or disable both services together.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit and at rest

5. Your Rights and Choices

5.1 Access and Control

  • View Your Data: You can see all your data in the app settings
  • Update Information: You can modify your profile and preferences anytime
  • Delete Account: You can delete your account and all associated data
  • Data Export: You can request a copy of your data in a portable format

5.2 Analytics and Crash Reporting Consent

  • Unified Consent Control: A single preference in Settings > Privacy controls both analytics tracking (PostHog) and crash reporting (Sentry). When you enable or disable this preference, both services are affected together.
  • Opt In/Out: You can enable or disable analytics and crash reporting anytime in Settings > Privacy > "Share Analytics & Crash Reports"
  • Immediate Effect: Your consent preference takes effect immediately - no app restart required
  • What's Controlled: When disabled, both analytics tracking (usage data) and crash reporting (error reports) are stopped
  • Marketing: You can unsubscribe from promotional emails separately from analytics consent

6. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as necessary:

  • Account Data: Until you delete your account
  • Workout Data: Until you delete it or your account
  • Analytics Data: Anonymized data may be kept longer for research
  • Legal Requirements: Some data may be kept longer if required by law

7. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

8. Children's Privacy

GainStrong is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Posting the updated policy in the app
  • Sending you an email notification
  • Showing a prominent notice when you open the app
